California Dreaming

The blazer continues to be my favorite piece in my wardrobe. I think I wore it all but one day last week.

If I lived in California, I would wear this sort of thing every day, with the perfect pairs of simple leather sandals. The skirt is so deliciously flowy and breezy and absolutely the perfect length, falling to just below my knees. Forgive me for not doing it proper justice in the pictures!

I wore this to troll a fantastic upscale vintage shop with my friend earlier today. Though I didn't purchase anything, the store was amazing, with zillions of vintage designer pieces at obscenely good prices. And if you believe in sartorial destiny, I think I met the prom dress (and shoes!) I am fated to wear. I might try to sketch and scan them for you because they were absolutely gorgeous.

You can see the remnants of my bathing suit tan! I honestly cannot remember the last time I had such visible tan lines.

I had the most glorious time with two friends last night. We went for a freezing late night swim in our underwear while blasting The Decemberists on the outdoor speakers, then proceeded to watch four straight hours of Trueblood. Gotta love these long weekends!

Also, thanks so much to Ruxandra for the award!

I suppose I can scrape together ten interesting things about myself...

Strawberry banana smoothies are my favorite beverage, I find Alan Rickman as Professor Snape incredibly sexy, I always feel uncomfortable wearing white, watching cake shows on television is endlessly fascinating to me, I have an unexplainable love for trashy novels, I have never seen a Star Wars movie, I wish I could be barefoot all the time, my favorite type of food is Indian, I wish I could speak fluent Hebrew, and I think ballet is the most beautiful art form in existence.

In other news, I have made it my sole mission in life to get to Fashion's Night Out in New York City this Thursday. It just sounds too amazing not to be there, and when I want to do crazy stuff I make it happen, even if that stuff is happening on a school night! If I do take part in the smashingly fabulous evening full of shopping and designers and unbelievable swag, you will be the first ones to know.

The New Love Of My Life

This is the dress Luke most wonderfully gifted me with on Sunday.

It is shapeless and soft and breezy and perfect.

I plan on never taking it off.

This dress is the definition of my ideal summer wardrobe. I took these pictures on Memorial Day, it was the most glorious evening weather.

h&m dress, forever 21 sunnies, random peace sign necklace

view from the hotel window

the lazy bumblebee humming of jets beyond the
iron balcony reminds me that this paradise is
far from secluded - although the palm trees
that sway in a lazy merengue on the sloping
grass, looking oddly like
Marfan sufferers with their spindly trunks
and tufty heads, do make up quite
a picturesque foreground for
the smug silver blurs that smear a pastel
sunset into a glinting, endless stroke of
utopian light.

New love of my life + being barefoot + flowers + long shower + new face wash + cool spring twilight + pastel sky + poem that reminds me of California and spring = a perfect evening.

East Coast Girls Are Hip, I Really Dig Those Styles They Wear

Thank you all for being sincerely concerned with the state of my Monday, but it turned out okay! Cozy pajamas and a fun play rehearsal more than made up for the rest of my day.

Something I wish I had written... the following lyric from "Armchair" by Andrew Bird. The words are five hundred times better than the actual song.

"I dreamed you were a cosmonaut of the space between our chairs, and I was a cartographer of the tangles in your hair."

I want my summer to look like... the new Missoni ads.

Glamorous beachwear, flawless skin, and minimal sweating despite the brilliant sun? Yes please!

The funniest and most terrifying thing I have seen in a long time...

I would like to know your opinion about...

... toe cleavage. Do you like how it looks? Or do you find it weird? I used to think it was creepy, but now I like how it looks. Manolo Blahnik said that "the secret of toe cleavage, a very important part of the sexuality of the shoe, is that you must only show the first two cracks." And toe cleavage sans stockings is part of the unwritten dress code of the Voguette, according to Anna Wintour. Your thoughts?

(p.s. picture is not mine, and i speak of toe cleavage in general, not just for these shoes... found the photo here)

Something I have been craving for days on end...

... the Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf. If you live out west, I envy you for this. As much as I consider myself an East Coast girl, and even a European girl on occasion, The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf is one thing that makes me so incredibly happy to be in California, probably because the chain is nonexistent over here (of course, there are stores in Qatar and Malaysia but a location in New York or Boston is simply unthinkable!). My drink of choice is the English Breakfast Tea Latte. It's better than anything Starbucks has ever produced.

A couple more photos from my favorite person on the planet...

I am considering sharing some of my poetry with you guys, because writing is just as much of a passion and mode of self expression for me as fashion is. But I would need to think about what to show you. So we'll see!

Sadly, I must now depart to eat dinner and put on my absolute horror of a frumpy black choir dress for a school concert tonight. See you lovelies soon enough!
