Yes Sir, Wonderful

Our Town has really, officially ended. I am still kind of a wreck about it. Not only is it the most exquisitely perfect piece of theater I have ever read or seen, but I also got to work with an incredible cast that included some of my best friends. To everyone in the play, I miss it already.

With four days of shows and various partyish activities afterward, I have had zero time to take pictures. But I have been awarded and tagged recently by two lovely bloggers, so here we go!

From Faye: the Beautiful Blogger Award! And here are seven interesting things about myself...

I am incapable of dancing in any other manner than resembling John Travolta in Pulp Fiction.
I really do curse like a sailor.
After giving my future a lot of thought, all I want to do with my life is go to college, move to Paris, and live at Shakespeare & Co. while writing my poetry book.
Yogurt totally creeps me out.
I love piercings. Nothing too scandalous, but I would love to have about a zillion more in each ear. Getting a nose piercing intrigues me very much too, but I am definitely afraid it will hurt like hell.
I wish it were sixty degrees all year round. It's the ideal slightly-crisp-but-still-warm-enough temperature.
If the A*Teens got together for a reunion tour, I would be the first person to buy tickets.

And, from This Wheel's On Fire, seven things that I love...

Macarons.

Floaty clothing.

Calligraphy.

Chandeliers.

Beat up old shoes.

Black kitties.

The blog where I found all the photos in this post, La Douleur Exquise. Since the first time I mentioned it here, I have only fallen more and more in love with it.

I will pass the award and both of these tags for seven things along to the delightful ladies from... Darling Darling, We Were Damsels, Roll Up Your Sleeve, Happy Because, Chasing Vulpecula, Cheap Thrills, and On The Corner Of Belleview. And I promise an outfit soon, once I scrub all this hairspray out of my scalp and get more than six consecutive hours of sleep.

A Star Is Mighty Good Company

For many months now, I have been searching for the perfect pair of black heels. Not too pointy, not too short, very plain and with substantial heels. Finally, the shoe gods have smiled upon me...

They are so magnificent! They fit amazingly, and are just the teeniest bit uncomfortable. And I am obsessed with how they look against these tights - something about the combination feels very burlesque.

I wore this dress on Monday. It's made of the most delicious flowy silk, and moves and clings like running water. Another shapeless calf length number that, with the help of a strategically placed belt, has become a chic little dress!

I won this black ring from a giveaway on ShopKim. It's so quietly glamorous, and such a great statement piece of jewelry. I have been wearing it nonstop since it came in the mail last week! Check out her Etsy shop for a hoard of more groovy rings.

This cardigan was yet another thrift store find. It feels like a long time since I have pulled on a granny sweater! This one fits the bill perfectly, with its sagging pockets and fabric vaguely the color of bile. How could I not love it?

Vintage wool coat, vintage cardigan, vintage silk dress, Nicole Miller tights, thrifted Forever 21 shoes, Urban Outfitters necklace, ShopKim ring

I had a day off from school yesterday, so I went to visit Bard College. It was indescribably wonderful. I know I had similar sentiments about Brown... but this might have been even better. Oh, college fever. It really does excite me.

My post title is one of my favorite lines from Our Town, which goes up tomorrow night! I am incredibly excited to start our performances, but also really sad that the play is going to be over. As my parents put it tonight, being part of theater is essentially my equivalent to being on a sports team. (Did I mention that Bard has no gym requirement? Wonderful.) I might not have a chance to post again before the show starts, so wish me luck!

Something Important, and Great.

"Yes, an awful lot of sorrow has sort of quieted down up here.

People just wild with grief have brought their relatives up to this hill. We all know how it is... and then time... and sunny days... and rainy days... 'n snow... We're all glad they're in a beautiful place and we're coming up here ourselves when our fit's over.

Now there are some things we all know, but we don't take'm out and look at'm very often. We all know that something is eternal.

And it ain't houses and it ain't names, and it ain't earth, and it ain't even the stars... everybody knows in their bones that something is eternal, and that something has to do with human beings.

All the greatest people ever lived have been telling us that for five thousand years and yet you'd be surprised how people are always losing hold of it. There's something way down deep that's eternal about every human being.

You know as well as I do that the dead don't stay interested in us living people for very long.

Gradually, gradually, they lose hold of the earth... and the ambitions they had... and the pleasures they had... and the things they suffered... and the people they loved.

They get weaned away from earth- that's the way I put it,- weaned away.

And they stay here while the earth part of 'em burns away, burns out; and all that time they slowly get indifferent to what's goin' on in Grover's Corners.

They're waitin'. They're waitin' for something that they feel is comin'.

Something important, and great.

Aren't they waitin' for the eternal part in them to come out clear?"

The new Sofia Coppola designs for Louis Vuitton + my audition monologue from Our Town by Thornton Wilder, which my high school is putting on in the fall, and for which I tried out about six hours ago.

It went well, I think... in addition to the monologue I also got to read for the crazy old lady who stands up and shouts things during the wedding scene. My dream role! But seriously, it was really fun.
I want a callback so badly! Cross your fingers for me.

P.S. New header! I wanted something a little livelier, and I think every known color of the rainbow is encapsulated in these stunning Antoinette-Fleur drawings.
