In my mind this was very beguiling-French-girl-meets-Annie-Hall-androgyny. I wore it to the Our Town audition and felt more like a stewardess than anything else.
The bag used to belong to my grandma. She is a very stylish (and generous!) lady. The oxfords were my mom's.
I really love the front of this shirt. The kimono-esque closure makes it much more elegant and chic and artsy than a standard white oxford.
Vintage white shirt, Target skirt, really old Ann Taylor oxfords, Coach purse
Last night I went to see The Decemberists in New York City. They played The Hazards of Love straight through, and it was absolutely exquisite. I think it might be my favorite album of all time.
Through the entire show I was praying they would play "Sons & Daughters" and then they closed with it! It was the most feel good moment of my life.
I have a few things on my mind and I was hoping you lovelies could help me out:
- My skin tends to be somewhat oily in the summer, and my face ends up feeling really nasty on sweltering hot days. Can anybody recommend a good skin clearing face wash and/or moisturizer and/or acne fighter for sensitive skin?
- I want to find the perfect pale pink and sheer white nail polishes. Any particular brands or shades I should try?
- Please tell me some great places to go in Paris! Shops, restaurants, bakeries, museums, anywhere you think I might like. I promise to write down all your recommendations and try to visit them all!
- In a similar vein, I know a little French music and want to know more. If you're familiar with any cheery French tunes, share them with me!

A= You're Adorable
What a sweet set of photos!! I adore your bag, i was looking for one similar to that all summer with no luck... maybe next season (: have you ever tried clinique skincare? i get really oily skin in summer here too and find their moisteriser esp good since it tends to be more of a gel than a cream xxx
OPI nail lacquer in coney island cotton candy is light and summery. it's very light pink but not sheer!
Yo homes. have you any serge gainsbourg? and if you want any pictures from die show, go to photobucket and search manthara. I don't know if any of the three of us/you and tuckerella are on it, but c'est la vie.

as far as face wash goes.. a great one for oily skin is Philosophy's Purity wash as well as Philosophy's Hope in a Bottle moisturizer (it has a bit of salicylic acid in it). I LOOOVE these products.
nail polish: OPI's sweetheart is pale pink & awesome.
Yelle is amazing french pop music!
Hope this helps a bit lady!

I like your skirt. The decemberists seem like a great band to see in concert.
OPI in Heart throb. hands down favorite.
love the little brown leather cross body bag.
Your pictures are absolutely beautiful. Dressed to impress.
that outfit is def chic and classy! and jealous you saw the decemberists!
1. i'm on the same boat as you. right now i am just using a simple face wash from target, an on the spot cream from some random company, and clinique face lotion. i say try clinique if you havent.
2. i always hit up the local chinese and korean boutiques in my area for nail polish.
3. can't help you there. going to paris? totally jealous
4. emily loizeau, francoise hardy and amelie-les crayons
btw thanks for the sweet comment. lovely blog!

i love everything about this outfit, the bag the shoes the fluffy skirt the incredibly cool shirt. you look fabulous, not like a stewardess at all (though i do enjoy a good stewerdess outfit now and again)
I am SO jealous that you got to see the Decemberists....
French Music, Poney Express is good and i love Coeur de Pirate (though technically she's canadian, but she sings in french)

I love your oxfords, & that purse is adorable! I would've never guessed it was Coach
Your small bag is just too cute :). Furthermore I'm a big fan of high-waisted stuff and your skirt is very pretty.
I adore the oxfords and the bag! I wish my mom and grandma had cool stuff like that hanging around. This outfit is so wonderfully classic. I wish I had advice for you on any of those topics...
Lovely outfit! Love the oxfords .x.
Lovely outfit!
I love your entire outfit!

Oooooh.....great outfit! For nailpolish you should try OPI or China Glaze, they sell basically every color you can possibly imagine and they last a long time!
For French music, there are two great soundtracks:
*Amélie
and
*The Chorus (Les Choristes) <--a movie you HAVE TO watch, btw)
I like your outfit! and I just tagged you in a post. Check it out.
This outfit is serious perfection... I love how classy and simple and adorable you look!
In reply:
-Neutrogena anti acne somethign wash... the tube is white and has green and orange and feels like mint when you put it on!
-OPI's Passion
-Carla Bruni <3333
have you been to the louvre before? if not, definitely go there!
there's also the 'musee de la mode' which i'm guessing you'll be interested in. =]
but tbh, the best thing about paris is the cafes in the street. maybe the champs-elysees?
♥
Love the oxfords, and you're grandma is very stylish. Gotta love the purse! Hope the adition went well. I know thi is an un-original answer but go to Champs Elysee!
XOXOXO

the outfit-as great as usual.are you going to Paris?wiow...that sounds amazing for a summer holiday:)
Great outfit and very pretty shoes.
Highly recommend OPI nail-polishes. They go on nicely and I'm sure they have a nice pale pink in there somewhere?
Ps. Will be sharing a favorite french artist of mine sometime today and linking to you!xo
you look so cute... I absolutely love your outfit =]
for your skin problem, I would suggest Tea Tree for acne and Better Botanical Coriander cleanser for a face wash. hope this helps =]
xoxo Rochelle
(passion tea lemonade huh? never had it but it sounds yum!! maybe I'll try it on my next trip to Starbucks...=])
I use a dove face wash. It's really nice, and mildly scented (cucumber).
I love your oxfords, you have a very stylish family! In Paris you must check out the marches aux puces (flea markets) for really awesome clothes and other stuff you can't find anywhere else. And definitely listen to Yelle, Edith Piaf, Carla Bruni, and Uffie!
gorgeous outfit dearie .
st. ives apricot scrub (original) for your skin, it's in the bag by essie for your nails, laduree and colette for paris, and moi je joue by brigitte bardot for french music .
I love your outfit, and your bag is so cute !
For me, i have 1 more week of school, exams in 2weeks and then, I'm free. Halleluia. x
OMG you look so great in this skirt and shirt !! I love your bag and your shoes !
try blotting tissues (i like the ones from body shop) to reduce shine throughout the day
...and opi nail polishes have so many shades, you are bound to find one that you like!! :)
I love the outfit, and the badge on the front of the shirt is a neat touch :) Very cute! The Decemberists are awesome, it sounds like you had a great time.
And hmm, I've heard that Clearisil is supposed to be good, but really I don't know anything about it... good luck getting your questions answered!
Helloo!! I just added you to my Blog List, It would be fantastic if you could do the same for me!! I would love it!!
Thank you for being you!
great outfit and that leather bag is gorgous!:D
humm..well have a look at "la liste" from the singer rose.its also the music from my blog..i love this french song..makes you smile:)
xx
Your oxfords are the most amazing things I've ever seen! As for nail varnish, I think Nails Inc. is pretty good and it comes in so many colours. When are you going to paris?
i love the details of this shirt! and the skirt is a great shape (: thanks for visiting my blog!
annah xx
I'll have to have a look at the backstage photos, I don't think I've seen them before.
I'm in Paris from the 4th-7th if July for a school trip! I wish we had more freedom as I would love to explore the city in proper :) What are you planning on doing whilst you're there?
amazing oxfords and skirt!
i've found that saint yves apricot scrub for sensitive skin is great, with clinique toner. oil be gone! haha.
try the Murad acne line! their cleanser is gel based (best for oily skin types) and tingles a bit so it feels refreshing. for moisturizers, take a look at the same line.
also, someone mentioned Clinique. i find their acne line is a bit too harsh but their regular facial soap is pretty decent, and try their Dramatically Different moisturizing gel for the face! it's not too heavy.
buttttt if you have the budget, try Dermalogica. sooooo amazing. their special cleansing gel is aaaamazing and their oil control lotion is ever better.
ok i'll stop now. i work at Sephora so i have all these suggestions for you. haha
The Body Shop has a nice skincare range made on tea tree, though if your skin is super sensitive it may sting a little. It has a foaming cleanser which is nice and light but still gets any grime off. The whole range is great for my skin, but my favourites would be this cleanser, and then the nighttime blemish fade lotion and daytime mattifying moisturiser.
As for Paris, I can only dream of going! As a fellow writing enthusiast, one place I very much hope to visit is The Shakespeare Room; it's an old bookshop owned by an old man and his daughter. They let about six writers stay there for free for six months at a time to work on their writing, on condition that they read one book a day. I wish I could go stay!
For french music I love Emilie Simon. Some songs are pretty and light, some feisty and sexy.
I hope you enjoy your trip!
Love the oxfords!
I love this bag!
love the purseeeee!
Lovely outfit, so cute!
I just opened my etsy shop! I hope you'll take a look. :)
beautiful bag!i love!
OH MY GOODNESS, I have that same tiny little Coach purse. I found mine in a vintage shop... so you're is obviously cooler because it's from your grandmother.
Ahh a chinese top thingy? cute! :)
try liz earle, my skin is the same and this really helps, you can get the product for your skin type, and they send it all nicely wrapped up and you get a freeebie too if you get the summer package :), check out their website and let me know what you think :)
also for frech music, i know they dont sing in french but they have french in their name, listen to chester french :) they are amazing! also watch amelie :)
love your blog, your style is really cool and quirky :)
xx
i always enjoy your blog so much :)
here's my advice:
1- for skin i use vichy normaderm face wash, scrub and toner
2- my favorite pink nail polishes are essie in fiji, l'oréal in sweet chiffon and one by l.a. girl that doesn't seem to have a name but is purple-ish pink and is sold at urban outfitters
3- everytime i go to paris, i visit the espace dali montmarte, the musée rodin, the parc montsouris, the sinequanone boutiques (even though we have some in montreal), kookai (where i spontaneously bought my prom dress) and the café de flore
4- as for french music: my absolute favorite is cali's first album, l'amour parfait. i also like louise attaque, 3ème oeil and sniper (the last two are french rap). as far as retro french music, i like jacques brel, georges brassens, serge gainsbourg and boris vian
sorry for bombarding you with info lol i hope it's useful :)
