The View From Saturday

At last, for better or worse, the whirlwind of Autumn/Winter 2009 has come to an end, and I've compiled my Paris favorites. As usual, click to enlarge, and all images are borrowed graciously from Style.com.

1. Stella McCartney. Unfussy, easy elegance was the name of the game. All the models looked so clean and pretty and chill! It was nice to see them smile for once.
2. Dries Van Noten. If Stella was unfussy, then Dries was practically nonexistent. But I liked it! The collection was very World War II inspired, or like the entire costume lineup from The Aviator, with lots of trousers and forties jackets and bright lipstick, and a beautiful color palette.
3. Givenchy. Stunning, is basically all I can say. Loved everything about it and had a very difficult time choosing favorites. You can see why.
4. Viktor & Rolf. Me and Hazel were totally on the same wavelength about this one, it's actually freaky: kind of disappointing, but worth posting about just because of these two things.
5. Emanuel Ungaro. Very youthful and flirty and light. I want to have a New Year's Eve party where everybody wears Ungaro. The dresses were fantastically fitted, and those sequined tights are godly and belong in my closet. Like, right now. Okay, thanks.
6. Christian Lacroix. To my very pleasant surprise, the ready-to-wear completely stood up to the couture collection, incorporating all those Lacroix details we love so much: elegant hair, dazzling jewelry, bows, lace, and utterly superb tights. That flower pin is breathtaking.
7. Louis Vuitton. Girly, flirtatious, and bold, with lots of sculptural details and phenomenal shoes. The show itself just looked so bright, and all the models are incredibly fresh faced and soft.
Tell me your favorites!
Also, thank you so much for all your comments! I love feeling like part of the blogosphere.
