Mosaic

"Autumn seemed to arrive suddenly that year. The morning of the first of September was crisp and golden as an apple..."
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

"There is a harmony in autumn, and a luster in its sky, which through the summer is not heard or seen, and if it could not be, as if it had not been!"
Percy Bysshe Shelley

"September: it was the most beautiful of words, he'd always felt, evoking orange flowers, swallows, and regret."
Alexander Theroux

"Winter is an etching, spring a watercolor, summer an oil painting and autumn a mosaic of them all."
Stanley Horowitz

Forever 21 tee, vintage trousers, Coach belt, vintage Doc Martens, vintage and gifted rings

This is what I wore yesterday. I chose to start school with a simple, comfortable outfit. The slouchy cut of the shirt is so delicious. And, of course, the Doc Martens were the essential finishing touch.

Even though September has just begun, I can already feel the familiar sparkle of autumn starting to descend upon everything. When a golden sun and crisp breezes in a cloudless sky make it just cool enough to put on a cozy scarf, and the intimate forest that surrounds my backyard starts to turn the warm colors of French toast, pumpkins, and graham crackers. Autumn means Halloween and Thanksgiving (my two favorite holidays), apple cider and rehearsals for Our Town, tights with every outfit and the freshness of a new school year.

P.S. Can you tell that I dyed my hair? I hope so! I will try to capture it better in future pictures, but it's essentially black now. I love it so much.

P.P.S. Right after school today I received a phone call from my school choir teacher, who told me that I got into the honors choir I tried out for at the end of June! The choir comprises high school singers from eleven states, and only thirteen students from Connecticut were accepted. I honestly never expected to get in, so this is insanely exciting!

Congrats!

I love the outfit, and early fall in general. Late fall and winter, not so much. But September is a pretty great month.
