She Could Throw A Whirling Dervish Out Of Whirl

(we heart it)

There's just something about balloons.
They make me smiley and giddy.

We had the most perfect weather imaginable this weekend, so I took advantage by putting on my new favorites clothes and dancing around outside in them.

sweater, vintage ~ silk tank, mom's ~ shorts, forever 21 ~ shades, forever 21

The world would be a better place if everyone was barefoot all the time.
Really, who isn't happier being barefoot?
My friends call this my Golden Girls sweater.

dress, vintage

I usually end up feeling stiff and posed in my pictures.
I tried to remedy that by twirling around a lot. It helped.
The dress worked well with being spun, don't you think? It's very photogenic.
While whirling around I had one bit from The Sound of Music stuck in my head:

She'd outpester any pest, drive a hornet from its nest, she could throw a whirling dervish out of whirl. She is gentle, she is wild, she's a riddle, she's a child, she's a headache, she's an angel, she's a girl.

This dress makes me feel like a whirling dervish.
And also like an extra from one of my favorite movies, Mona Lisa Smile.

(imdb)

Can someone explain to me the difference between thrifted and vintage?
Are they the same, and vintage just sounds fancier? Or is there actually a difference?

And finally, a poem. It reminds me of spring.

exhilaration is the breeze ~ emily dickinson

Exhilaration is the Breeze
That lifts us from the Ground
And leaves us in another place
Whose statement is not found —

Returns us not, but after time
We soberly descend
A little newer for the term
Upon Enchanted Ground —

Spring break is finally, most unfortunately, over.
Wish me luck.

I adore your plaid shorts and vintage dress. I completely agree with you on balloons as well--I even did a post on my love of balloons once. :)
Oh and good luck with the end of spring break.

I really like the vintage dress, the print is really fun! All the balloon pictuers were nice.

Those shorts are amazingly cute! And the shades & cardi go together perfectly :).

I also absolutely adore that vintage dress, it's gorgeous!

The difference between vintage & thrifted, is that vintage usually either comes from vintage stores costing a bit more than thrift stores, however you can get some pieces in thrift stores that are classed as vintage.
so the two do kind of overlap i guess.

Hi, love all the clothes and the balloons!

In my opinion, anything at least twenty years old is vintage (it really annoys me when people refer to stuff from 2000 as vintage), thrifted just means bought in a thrift store/charity shop/op shop, it doesn't even necessartily have to be second hand. This seems to be the way most people use it anyway.

Hehe. Balloons are the best. Especially plenty of colourful ones just floating through the sky.

You're so lucky to have some sun. Those outfits are awesome. I love the shorts.

I think that vintage has to be a certain age whereas thrifted is just something second hand and cheaper than expected. Haha.

:)
and i love your sunnies .
i think that vintage is when it's very old , like decades old; and thrifted just means secondhand .
that's my opinion .

I love balloon photos. In regards to thrifted vs vintage, sometimes things that are thrifted aren't even vintage. Like, I have yet to consider 90s clothing vintage. I don't really differentiate, though. If I say something is vintage, it's usually been thrifted because after a childhood of being groomed to spot vintage in thrift stores, I have a hard time paying the amount of money that vintage stores ask. ...Wow, what a novel!

The balloons are fun! Also I love your shorts. I think the difference form thrifted and vintage is that vintage is pre 1980's and thrifted is 1980's up until now.
